While I was there I happened to stumble upon these:
Have a Tremendous Thursday y'all!!
Love,
Olivia
I don't usually shop at Ingles . . . mostly because I tend to find better deals on Gluten Free Items at other stores, but last night after Bible Study we had a quick errand to run, and stopped into Ingles to pick up the couple things on our list. While I was there I happened to stumble upon these: If y'all know anything about Ingles, you know that Laura Lynn is their store brand, which usually makes things a bit cheaper. For example, these were $2.99 for 10! Which isn't bad. They smell like fresh waffle comes when their cooking, which is kind of fun. I think their tasty, and may do a review later this week. But, I just wanted y'all to know these were available, because it was news to me. :)
Have a Tremendous Thursday y'all!! Love, Olivia

I've been hearing rave reviews of Pillsbury's Gluten Free Funfetti Cake Mix, but until this week I couldn't find it in a store near me. Sad, I know. Anyway, I found the Gluten Free Funfetti mix at my local Walmart the other day, and thought I'd share my take on it with y'all! My sister made the mix into cupcakes and topped them with almond buttercream . . . (think delectable wedding cake, y'all!!) Now, we'll split this review into three parts (per usual) Flavor, Texture, and Price. Let's dive right in, shall we? Flavor:
Awesome. These taste exactly like what I remember of the glutenous version of Funfetti cupcakes. I'd do a side by side comparison for y'all because I'm pretty sure that they're exactly the same, but I won't be doing that because . . . Gluten! Lol. They are simply delicious with no weird aftertaste like some Gluten Free mixes give you. I'd declare the flavor of these a ten out of ten! :) Texture: Perfect. There's no dryness or grittiness whatsoever. My favorite part, however, is they are light and airy with no denseness at all. In fact, texturally, these may be the very best cupcakes I've had since going Gluten Free. I'd give the texture a ten out of ten. Price: Not bad at all. This mix is $2.98 at my Walmart versus around $4.00 for other similar Gluten Free Cake Mixes I have purchased. They're still more expensive than the glutenous version, but that's on par for almost all Gluten Free products. I wasn't shocked or disappointed. I'm giving the price a ten out of ten, because it's more reasonable than any other Gluten Free Cake mixes I've tried. Overall: I think this mix is absolutely fantastic, the taste is fantastic, they're light and airy and more cost effective than other Gluten Free Cake Mixes I've seen. I'm very excited about this product, and I would definitely recommend it to y'all as well as buying it again myself!! So go out and get one for the weekend, bake it up into cupcakes or another fun application, come back here and post your creation so we can all see how fun the "funfetti" can be!! As usual, all opinions expressed within this review are mine and mine alone. Pillsbury doesn't have a clue who I am. Have a Fantastic Friday, y'all!! Love, Olivia Okay y'all, I picked up a variety pack of Chex Gluten Free Oatmeal at Kroger the other day, and thought I'd tell y'all what I thought of this new product! Ease of use: Super Simple. Pour Oatmeal into bowl, Boil water, Pour water over oats, Stir, Enjoy. 5/5 Stars, because it seriously couldn't be simpler. Flavor: Fantastic! Just in case y'all hadn't noticed yet, I'm a big fan of oatmeal, and I eat it fairly regularly. My favorite flavor out of these was the Maple Brown Sugar. It's super yummy. Flavor gets 5/5 Stars. Portion: So many instant oatmeal packets give you close to no oatmeal, these are different. The packaging touts that they're hearty servings, and I would completely agree! (picture below) 5/5 Stars. Overall:
These are awesome products. The flavor is great, they're quick and easy for breakfast on the go, and they have decent portion size. I'd give Chex Gluten Free Oatmeal a 5/5. I TOTALLY recommend it. As usual, all opinions are my own, and Chex has NO clue who I am! Have an awesome day y'all! Love, Olivia Today I'm going to talk about the Krusteaz Gluten Free Honey Cornbread Mix! Here's some information on it:
And here are the instructions: Here's what my cornbread looked like once I cooked it: (Yes, it's in a cast iron skillet) So, we'll go about this in the usual fashion here at Livie's Gone Gluten Free by discussing the product in categories and then ranking those categories with stars!
Texture: It's a touch on the crumbly side, which is really strange because it is moist. Yet it crumbles SUPER easily. (Just a hint though, this problem can be significantly decreased by a sizable dollop of butter). I'm giving the texture 3/5 stars. Flavor: GREAT! I thought the flavor was fantastic. It has a far more authentic cornbread taste than other cornbread mixes I have purchased -- a pleasant surprise. I think it tastes delicious. I'm giving the flavor 5/5 stars. Price: Not terrible. The price I paid at Walmart is pretty much on par with all the other Gluten Free Cornbread Mixes I can get locally. I'd give the price a solid 4/5 stars. Overall: I think it's a great product, and I will most likely buy it again. It's got a great corny cornbread taste that is superior to others I've tried. My only issue is that it crumbles VERY easily. If it weren't for that, this product would get 5/5 stars. However, because of the crumbliness; it gets a 4/5. Hope y'all found this review helpful!! As usual, ALL opinions in this post are mine and mine alone. Krusteaz has NO IDEA who I am. If you've tried this product, please let me know what you thought of it in the comments below!! Have an awesome Saturday, Y'all! Love, Olivia Okay y'all, I don't know if you packed lunches for school growing up, but if you did . . . I'm sure at one point you might have had these or something like them: Usually these were reserved for special occasions in my house. But on the days I'd find a pack in my lunch box, I'd feel pretty stinking cool. These were the snacks of playground royalty in my day--almost like having gum in middle school. INSTANT POPULARITY. Lol. Now, those adorable little brownies above are NOT Gluten Free. Wanna know what are though? Walmart's new Gluten Free Brownie Bites! Like an idiot I didn't take pictures and chose to just gobble them up with my mama and sister at the store (I did pay for the package though), but you can see what they look like here. As usual, we'll review these based on the star system with five stars being the best.
Flavor: Fantastic. Just like I remember the Little Bites tasting. Great chocolate flavor without being overly rich. 5/5 Stars. Texture: Great! Perfectly hydrated without being squishy. It still has some substance to it, but isn't dry and crumbly. 5/5 Stars. Overall: These are awesome, and I TOTALLY recommend them!! 5/5 Stars. Let me know if you've tried these and if you liked them in the comments below! Have a great day, y'all! Love, Olivia Okay y'all! Here comes the post you've waited for ALL DAY LONG! Love, Olivia Alrighty y'all, I went to Sam's Club today and found a new Gluten Free Product from Krusteaz (which I searched for and couldn't find on their website), and I thought I'd share it with y'all!! It's Krusteaz Gluten Free All Purpose Flour!! We paid $9.98 for five pounds of it at Sam's today, and I'm SUPER excited to try it out!! Here are a couple of cool factoids about it:
I'm SO excited to try this over the next few days and will DEFINITELY be letting y'all know EXACTLY what I think of it!
I hope y'all have a fantastic rest of your day! Love, Olivia Okie dokie y'all, it's FREEZING here, and I figured it'd be a good day to catch up on some fun lunches I've made over the past couple weeks that are pretty and better for warmer days without being hot and soupy. 1) Salad and a Turkey and Swiss Roll Up Just a basic salad with dressed up carrot ribbons alongside a spinach tortilla filled with turkey and swiss. 2) Turkey Tostadas Ground turkey with black beans, rice, corn, baby kale, and cheddar cheese. 3) Homemade Tortillas and Eggs with Pineapple Salsa This one is fairly self explanatory. 4) Corn Dogs
These may be the simplest thing on here. Microwave for 40 seconds, put on a plate with dipping sauces, and serve! Okay y'all! I was sent a Send Me Gluten Free Box as a thank you for reviewing last month's Send Me Gluten Free Box, and decided I might as well review this one for y'all, too! ;) You'll notice I have a guest in my video this time! You can find her blog here. You can find my post on the muffins here! Also, I misspoke in relation to the other Breeze Bar flavor. It was Chocolate CRANBERRY not Chocolate CHERRY. OOPS!
Now, in addition to the yummy samples, I also found some coupons in my box--including:
All the products mentioned in the video can be found on the following sites:
Also, I have now tried the Nuun drink. It was fair, but it just wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped it would be. It creates more of a flavored water taste than a true sports drink, but it was still tasty. I love Send Me Gluten Free, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to try new products the past two months! You can subscribe here for $30 a month, but the price does decrease if you purchase additional months in advance. ;) I hope y'all enjoyed this review, and don't forget to enter my Foster Farms Gluten Free Giveaway!! ;D Have a Terrific Tuesday Y'all! Love, Olivia Okie dokie y'all! I got a Send Me Gluten Free box this month as a thank you for reviewing the box last month (you can find that here), and while there's a video review coming of most of the products, there were a few products that I mentioned yet didn't review. So . . . here we go! ;) In the Send Me Gluten Free box this month I received this sample of Vegan and Gluten Free Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin Mix from Amazing Foods for health! As usual, we're going to be reviewing it based on three factors: Taste, Texture, and Ease of Use. Our normal fourth factor (price) can't be added in because I received the product for FREE! ;) Taste: Okay. Not as great as I had hoped, but not awful. It did have a bit of an oily after taste which I assume is a result of using coconut oil in place of butter. Out of five stars, I'd give these muffins a solid three. Texture: First off, I added some Almond Milk to the batter to moisten it, as it was quite dry when made according to the directions. Once thinned to normal muffin batter consistency, it made nine muffins. They were kind of spongy, and didn't rise much. They were FAR better texturally after I put butter on them, which kind of defeats the whole Vegan idea, but I'm not Vegan so . . . Anyways, out of five stars, I'd give these three. Ease of Use: Super simple. I had no issues making these, except for the really dry batter, which was easily fixed with some Almond Milk. I'd rate the ease of use as three of five. Overall, these muffins were a solid three. Nothing gross, but nothing spectacular either.
Let me know if y'all have tried these, and if so what you thought of them in the comments! Have an awesome day!! Love, Olivia (P.S. Enter my Foster Farms Giveaway here) |
